The Old Mill Foundation provides free physical and emotional support to people living with cancer, as well as support for their carers.
The charity was founded in 2003 by Sarah, following the loss of her husband to cancer. Recognising the need for a place where people could receive practical and emotional support, she opened her home and salon in Penclawdd, Swansea, offering treatments free of charge.
Since then, The Old Mill Foundation has grown from two volunteers to more than 50 volunteers, with three centres across South and West Wales. The charity also runs a charity shop in Haverfordwest and a not-for-profit health store in Port Talbot.
The Old Mill Foundation offers a wide range of services designed to support wellbeing during and after cancer treatment. These include:
The charity’s volunteers have a wide range of skills and receive specialist training in cancer care. This allows them to provide support that is tailored to the individual needs of each person who attends.
Support isn’t only for people living with cancer. Caring for a loved one can be difficult and stressful, and carers can also benefit from therapies and support. Knowing that their carer is receiving support too can be a great comfort to someone living with a cancer diagnosis.
The Old Mill Foundation’s services are provided free of charge, so donations are vital to keeping this support available.
Every penny received helps provide a warm, welcoming environment and the everyday essentials needed to run the centres, from massage oils and refreshments to clean towels and other supplies.
There are many ways you can support The Old Mill Foundation, whether through making a donation, volunteering or helping to raise awareness of the charity’s work.
Every contribution, however large or small, helps The Old Mill Foundation continue providing free support and therapies to people living with cancer and their carers.
