Trinity is a modest yet historically rich Calvinistic Methodist chapel that has served its rural Gower community for over two centuries. Originally built in 1817 as a school and meeting house funded by Lady Barham of Fairy Hill, it later became a centre for Methodist worship. Rebuilt in 1868, it has been designated as a Grade II listed building by Cadw for its historical and architectural significance. Trinity Chapel is now affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Wales (historically rooted in the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist movement) and continues to serve the local community.
If you pass Trinity Chapel most Sunday mornings around 9:30, and look through the window you will see a small but perfectly formed congregation doing what Christians have been doing for centuries: singing, praying, reading the Bible, discussing and laughing, we do lots of laughing! We are very informal, and encourage everyone to participate in any way they feel comfortable.
We do not have a formal order of service, but over the past few years we have focused on particular areas. We are currently spending each week looking at a different book of the Bible. There are sixty-six starting with Genesis and ending with Revelation, we should finish by the end of 2026. Last year we looked each week at different women in the Bible story and the year before we studied the various attributes of God.
We have excellent relationships with the churches and sometimes join them for joint services. We are also delighted that Cantorion Llanmadoc, the village choir, uses the chapel for rehearsals every Tuesday evening.
