Cwm Ivy is a small hamlet surrounded by some of the most beautiful and varied countryside in north-west Gower. From here, paths lead through woodland and open countryside towards Cwm Ivy Marsh, Whiteford Burrows and Whiteford Sands, making it an excellent starting point for longer walks.

The area is particularly attractive for nature lovers. Cwm Ivy Marsh forms part of the wider Whiteford National Nature Reserve and is an important habitat for wildlife, including wading birds, egrets and herons. There are also two bird hides, including Cheriton Hide, where very patient visitors may spot kingfishers, otters and other wildlife.

One of the best ways to experience Cwm Ivy is on foot. From a pay carpark below Llanmadoc church a circular route can take you through the hamlet down to the Monteray pines on the north side of the marsh towards Whiteford Burrows. Continue towards the lighthouse before returning along the beach. The landscape has changed considerably over recent years, with the breaching of the sea wall allowing tidal water back into parts of the marsh and creating a rich and developing wetland habitat.
